Youth Initiatives

The Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter is deeply committed to uplifting and empowering the next generation through impactful youth programming. Our programs provide meaning opportunities for academic enrichment, leadership development, self-confidence building, and service learning for young people across York County, SC.

  • Designed for girls ages 11-14 with a focus on leadership development and personal growth through hands on activities in STEM, cultural awareness, financial literacy, and community service. Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy empowers young girls to dream big, build confidence, and prepare for future success.

  • Dr. Jean L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute is a dynamic program for girls ages 14-18 that promotes academic excellence, self-confidence, and leadership. Delta GEMS helps young women discover their strengths while preparing for bright futures.

  • EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence) is a program for young men ages 13-18 that focuses on academic achievement, character development, and personal responsibility. With engaging workshops and mentoring, EMBODI supports boys in becoming confident, purpose-driven leaders in their communities.

Volunteer Requirements & Next Steps

Before you begin the application process, please ensure you meet the following criteria to partner with our Youth Programs:

  • Background Clearance: All volunteers must successfully pass a comprehensive background check to ensure the safety of our participants.

  • Commitment to Mentorship: Ability to attend scheduled program sessions and engage consistently with youth participants.

  • Adherence to Policies: Agreement to follow the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter’s Code of Conduct and youth safety protocols.

  • Orientation Attendance: Completion of a mandatory volunteer orientation and training session (dates to be provided upon application).

  • Passion for Service: A genuine interest in fostering the academic, social, and leadership development of young people in our community.

Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant

The Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant is signature scholarship and cultural enrichment program hosted biannually by Rock Hill Alumnae. Designed to showcase the talents, intellect, and potential of area high school young ladies, the pageant combines personal development workshops, community service, and performance arts. Participants engage in months of mentorship and preparation, culminating in a celebratory event that awards scholarships to support their higher education goals. Proceeds from the pageant directly benefits the chapter’s scholarship fund, reinforcing our commitment to educational excellence and youth empowerment in York County.
