Delta G.E.M.S.

Delta GEMS – “Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully” –  was created to catch the dreams of at risk young girls ages 15-18.  The goals of the program are to instill the need to excel academically, provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success, assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for the future (high school and beyond) and to create compassionate, caring and community minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.  Currently, the program serves an average of 15 young ladies annually.

Delta Academy

An academic enrichment program for young ladies ages 9-14 with a special emphasis on science, math and technology.  The program promotes self-esteem and self-discovery. The program covers three broad areas, scholarship, sisterhood and service.  The program was implemented in 2001 and serves approximately 30 young ladies each year.

EMBODI

The Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence program is designed for males ages 3-17 to refocus the efforts of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., with the support and action of other major organizations, on the plight of African-American males. EMBODI program goal is to empower African- American males and encourage them in reaching their fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally.

Jabberwock

The Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant is the annual fundraiser to support chapter programs and to award academic and book scholarships.  In 2015, the Chapter awarded $9,900 in scholarships. Over the last 15 years, the chapter has awarded approximately $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students in York County.
